Happy March!
I have a couple of little things to share, and then some big exciting news! Make sure to read to the end.
First, one of my best selling sock kits, Princess Lola, has just been restocked in my shop! This is a fun knit for any level of knitter. The kit includes: One of my favorite sock yarns, Leading Men Fiber Arts Intermission; Miyuki glass seed beads; the pattern (with detailed video tutorial); and super floss for placing the beads.
Second, this is the final month of the First Quarter KAL! The theme this month is beads, so cast on one of my many beaded designs and get knitting! Marchs prizes are some superb new knitting books. Just post a photo of your WIP every week in the KAL thread and youll be entered to win!
Now for the big news:
I am so happy to announce something Ive been working on this winter: The Knit for Food Knit-a-thon!
What is a knit-a-thon?! Its a knitting marathon. Yes, MARATHON! We are committing to knitting for 12 hours in order to raise money to help alleviate food insecurity.
As many of you know, food insecurity is a huge issue plaguing many Americans, and this problem has become even more acute during the pandemic. To help with this we are raising money to be split equally between Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, and Meals on Wheels.
There are two ways to support the Knit-a-thon: You can sign up to knit for 12 hours by clicking Join the Knitathon OR you can donate! Please spread the word to every friend, knitter, guild and LYS near you!
Its obvious that this is an issue a lot of people care about, because believe it or not we are already halfway to our fundraising goal and we havent even launched yet! Just through word of mouth people are signing up and raising funds. Our community is so powerful!!
So save the date for Sunday, April 11th from 10am-10pm. More details will be shared in the month ahead, but please start spreading the word, and thinking about your participation. As always, get in touch with any questions, there is a FAQ here that we are adding to as needed!
A huge thank you to everyone who has already committed to knit-a-thon with me! Together we can help craft a brighter future.
Laura
