Barcelola Mitts

Okay, so you made the Barcelola Cloche and now your hands are feeling left out of the party. Well, guess what? I fingered it out! Barcelola Mitts are the perfect companion to your favorite cloche because your hands deserve to be as fabulous as your head.

Designed for my 2025 Spain knitting adventure, these beauties capture the mosaic magic of Barcelona with 4 coordinating colors of square beads. Beads are prestrung on yarn and then slipped in front of stitches around the front of your mitt. Beaded Mosaic Knitting? I am here for it!

Go fully fingerless for texting and knitting freedom, or add short fingies for a little extra warmth and a snug fit. 

My Barcelola Mitts are knit at a dense gauge with two colors of Wool Dreamers’ Cautiva, a stunning 100% Spanish sport weight wool. So grab your needles and cast on - your hands came this cloche to being left out of the Barcelona fun!

MATERIALS
MC- 130 (145, 165) yards [119 (133, 151) meters] sport weight yarn
CC- 10 yards [9 meters] sport weight yarn 

Yarn I Used:
MC-Wooldreamers, Cautiva (100% Local Spanish Wool);
186 yards [170 meters]/ 1.8 ounces [50 grams]
CC- Wooldreamers, Cautiva (100% Local Spanish Wool);

One set US Size 4 [3.5 mm] double-pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge

Ndl A- US Size 2.5 [3 mm] double-pointed needles OR long circular needle, or one size smaller than needed to obtain gauge 
Ndl B-  US Size 3 [3.25 mm] double-pointed needles OR long circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge 
Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle, Scrap Yarn or Stitch Saver (for thumb sts)

Beads
182 Size 4 mm Square Japanese Beads 
(Approx. 5 grams each of 4 colors)
Dental Floss Threader or large eye beading needle (for stringing on beads)

SIZES and FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

To Fit Palm circumference: 7 (7.5, 8) inches [18 (19, 20) cm] 
Finished Palm Circumference: 6.5 (7, 7.5) inches [17 (18, 19) cm] 
Choose the size closest to your palm circumference. This fabric will stretch a lot and is quite forgiving.

GAUGE
28 stitches and 38 rounds = 4 inches [10 cm] in stockinette stitch on ndl B, UNBLOCKED 
26 stitches and 36 rounds = 4 inches [10 cm] in stockinette stitch on ndl B, blocked
