A simple and warm hat, knit from the brim to the top. Having Brioche stitch at the brim creates the coziest cover for your ears!
Colorwork is achieved by playing with one color of gradient yarn (though you can also use two colors!)… this hat is an example of something that looks tricksy but is easy!
The pattern includes a video tutorial to teach you how to work brioche in the round.
I also include notes on how to transform Brioche Topper into a “ponytail” hat… I wear my hair up alot of the time, so often times traditional hats don’t really “work” for me!

110 (125, 140) yards [100 (114, 128) meters] aran weight yarn

1 (1, 2) skeins Knitwhits Freia Handpaints, Freia Ombré Worsted (100% wool; 127 yd [116 m]/ 2.65 oz [75 g]); colors: Blue Velvet and Flare
One US Size 8 [5 mm] 16” circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
One set US Size 8 [5 mm] double-pointed needles or other needles for the crown decrease, or size needed to obtain gauge
One US Size 5 [3.75 mm] 16” circular needle, or three sizes smaller size than needed to obtain gauge
